Workspace
A workspace is the top-level tenant in Formula Foundry. It owns the subscription, the members, and the shared assets that depend on a team plan.
What’s in a workspace
- Members and roles — the people invited to the workspace and their Owner / Admin / Member role.
- Subscription — plan ID (Starter, Pro, Business, or a lifetime variant), status, seat count, and billing details.
- Team snippets — snippets saved with visibility set to Team are available to everyone in the workspace.
- Allowed domains (Business) — restricts membership to specific email domains.
- SSO configuration (Business) — connects WorkOS SAML/OIDC.
Custom variables are not workspace-wide. They’re scoped to the spreadsheet they were created in, per user. If you need a shared formula template, use a team snippet instead.
Creating a workspace
A workspace is created automatically when you sign up. Its plan starts on the 14-day usage-based trial, after which it needs a paid subscription to keep team and premium features active.
Workspace settings
From the portal , owners and admins can configure:
- Name — usually your company or team name; shown in the workspace switcher.
- Members — see Team Management.
- Billing — plan, seats, and invoices; see Billing & Plans.
- Allowed domains — Business only.
- SSO — Business only.
Workspace vs. account
Your account holds your identity and personal preferences (display name, avatar, connected providers). It spans every workspace you’re a member of.
A workspace holds team state — plan, members, team snippets — and is the unit billing and admin controls operate on. You can be a member of several workspaces, switching between them in the portal.
Usage visibility
Admins and owners can see workspace-level usage from the portal — AI token usage per member, seat utilisation, and subscription state. This helps catch surprises before the next billing cycle.
